The clariti® 1 day Story: Your Trusted SiHy Daily Family Enters a New Era

clariti®’s all-day comfort1 and unbeatable handling,*2 combined with a healthier3 wearing experience of a SiHy and the convenience of a daily disposable, make it an excellent choice for new contact lens wearers.†4

Silicone hydrogel (SiHy) contact lenses first came to market over two decades ago5and have since advanced contact lens wear by minimizing issues associated with oxygen delivery to the cornea.6-8

As such, eye care professionals continue to routinely prescribe silicone hydrogel lenses for their noted ocular health advantages.5,9 Just consider: 90% of ECPs agree that silicone hydrogel is the healthiest material for daily disposable patients.10 The rise of disposable lenses has also changed the way eye care professionals practice.6 Today, daily disposables are the preferred choice for eye care professionals in many markets.11

The clariti® 1 day family combines the ocular health benefits of a SiHy lens3 with the convenience of a daily disposable, and with

the added advantage of unbeaten handling.*2

“The clariti® family delivers on vision and comfort, in addition to an amazing wearing experience overall,” says Dr. Ian Whipple, OD, of Vision Source of Farr West. “We want to keep the eyes healthy. clariti® offers that benefit too as a silicone hydrogel,3 daily disposable lens. Comfort, vision, and safety are the three things that I look for the most in a contact lens. clariti® offers all of the above.”

This article highlights the technological advances of clariti® 1 day, why this lens family is optimal for new contact lens wearers, and real-world experience of clariti®’s benefits in day-to-day clinical practice.12

Thoughtful Design and Redesign

clariti® holds the unique distinction of being the first complete silicone hydrogel daily disposable contact lens family available in spherical, toric, and multifocal designs, in addition to being offered in a wide prescription range.13

clariti® 1 day lenses include WetLoc® technology that provides high water content throughout the entire contact lens to help ensure good, all-day comfort.‡  clariti® 1 day sphere also offers high levels of visual acuity due to its aspheric optical design. Further, CooperVision has continued to drive innovation in clariti® lenses. One such example is the Optimized Comfort Edge™, a redesign of the original edge, which has resulted in improved comfort on application and can be found in clariti® sphere and multifocal.14

“The redesigned edge made a big difference in improved comfort for my patients,” Dr. Whipple notes.

An Ideal Match for New Wearers

Numerous studies have reported on the importance of comfort, vision, and handling for wearing success in neophyte contact lens patients.15-17 Sulley et al. found handling and comfort were the most cited performance-related reasons for drop-out in new spherical lens wearers, while visual problems were the most common among new wearers of toric and multifocal contact lenses.15 Additionally, Pucker et al. cited discomfort as the main reason for drop-out in new contact lens patients.16

Through a unique combination of technology and design, clariti®’s WetLoc® Technology and Optimized Comfort Edge™, the latter found in the sphere and multifocal, create a naturally wettable lens to support not only all-day comfort but a high level of comfort from the first fit.18

Considering visual acuity, clariti® sphere’s aspheric optics have been specifically designed to enhance visual clarity.

For patients with astigmatism, clariti® toric’s smooth continuous ballast design helps provide optimal comfort and stability. Finally, CooperVision® Binocular Progressive System™ helps provide very good vision for patients with presbyopia in the clariti® 1 day multifocal 3-Add design.19

When it comes to handling, clariti®’s performance is unsurpassed*2 and receives high marks from both patients1 and eye care professionals alike.20 Consider, roughly 9 out of 10 eye care professionals agree a lens that is easy to handle makes them feel confident in fitting a specific brand for a patient new to contact lenses.21 Also consider: 75% of eye care professionals recommending clariti® 1 day for new wearers find the training for insertion and removal to be fast and easy.22 clariti® lenses also receive a 93% satisfaction rate in ease of insertion and removal,1 underscoring why clariti® emerges as a great choice for new contact lens wearers.23

“I often turn to clariti® as my first venture into a daily disposable lens," Dr. Whipple says. "clariti® offers excellent quality at an affordable price,"24

An Eye on Sustainability

In 2021, CooperVision pioneered the first net plastic neutral contact lens with clariti®. §|¶25For every clariti® 1 day contact lens sold in the U.S., CooperVision partners with Plastic Bank® to collect and convert an equal amount of plastic through their global network.§|**25 Collectors in coastal communities receive a premium for the materials they collect, which helps provide them with basic family necessities, such as groceries, cooking fuel, school tuition, and health insurance. ††26,27

“For some patients, the sustainability conversation resonates very well, and I’m finding that’s especially true with younger patients,” Dr. Whipple says. “When a patient is putting a clariti® lens in their eyes for the first time, I’ll say, ‘By the way, here’s an extra bonus. This lens is net plastic neutral.’”

CooperVision recently extended its partnership with PlasticBank to include a vision care program to provide vision screenings and vouchers for complimentary eye exams and glasses for eligible Plastic Bank collection members in Indonesia.27

This partnership holds a personal connection for Dr. Whipple. “When my parents retired, part of their plan was to live in Indonesia. They now go to Indonesia about four-to-six months out of the year and send me pictures of the beaches there. For me, CooperVision’s partnership with Plastic Bank is personal and amazing.”

He adds, “We can do better. We need to be kinder to our planet. By prescribing clariti®, this represents a small way I can contribute. For me, the sustainability story makes me feel even better about the product I’m selecting.”

Improving Vision and Comfort for Patients with Presbyopia: New clariti® 1 day multifocal 3 Add

CooperVision recently introduced the new clariti® 1 day multifocal 3 Add for patients with presbyopia. The foundation of the new 3 Add multifocal design is CooperVision’s Binocular Progressive SystemTM, that provides clear vision at all distances and for all levels of presbyopia even as a patient’s vision changes.19

clariti® 1 day multifocal 3 Add provides excellent initial comfort on dispensing28 and features the Optimized Comfort Edge™ design that helps provide a high level of comfort.29 Additionally, the new 3 Add design offers an expanded parameter range, allowing you to fit even more patients with presbyopia.30

The straightforward fitting approach ensures a high early fit success rate– overall, at least 83% of wearers achieve their final prescription with the initial pair of fitted lenses31,32 and at least 98% of patients fitted with clariti® 1 day multifocal lenses are successfully fitted with no more than two pairs.31,33,34

Additionally, a majority of patients refit from the original design to the 3 Add cite improved vision, high satisfaction with the lenses’ comfort, and an overall enhanced wearing experiencing. ‡‡35

“The new 3 add is going to be a good opportunity for patients new to presbyopia and new to contact lenses, in addition to those wanting to migrate out of a frequent replacement lens and even others who previously dropped out of contact lens wear,” Dr. Whipple explains.

A Lens to Meet the Need of Your New Contact Lens Patients

Since its launch, the clariti® family’s strong foundation and innovations continue to meet the needs of today’s contact lens wearers. clariti® 1 day offers an excellent choice for ECPs seeking outstanding performance for all their patients including those new to contact lens wear.†§§4

“Overall, clariti® lenses provide a great value to patients,” Dr. Whipple adds. “They deliver on comfort, vision and a safe wearing experience as a silicone hydrogel daily disposable, all the reasons why practitioners should lean into the clariti® lens family.”10,24
