Program Description
Bright Fellows is a CooperVision recognition program for third- and fourth-year optometry students to engage in a wide range of educational opportunities. Students enrolled in the program accumulate points for completing activities—from attending industry conferences to fitting patients in contact lenses—progressing through tiers that earn them eligibility for scholarships, awards and educational experiences.
Benefits of the Program
- Complete a wide range of activities to earn points to reach program tiers. Each new tier attained earns CooperVision merchandise (pin, water bottle, t-shirt, etc) and increases the chance of attending an all-expenses paid CooperVision New Graduate Summit after graduation.
- The 4th year student with the highest point accumulation at each school by April 1st receives a guaranteed invitation to the CooperVision New Graduate Summit, along with the CooperVision Contact Lens Leadership Award, which includes a $1,000 scholarship*.
How the Program Works
The student must enroll in the program by registering in the CooperVision Online Success Center as a student and provide graduation year. One of the courses listed in the Online Success Center is the Bright Fellows Program. The CooperVision Bright Fellows program rewards participating optometry students with points for activities that supplement their education, such as:
- Attending industry conferences (e.g., Optometry's Meeting® (AOA), the American Academy of Optometry (AAO), SECO, etc.) and state optometric association meetings
- Joining CooperVision academic events
- Conducting contact lens or myopia management research
- Fitting patients in contact lenses
- Participating in CooperVision student programs
- Sharing experiences on social media
Start accumulating points from the start of 3rd year until April 1st of 4th year by completing activities to earn points to reach program tiers. There is a Bright Fellows leaderboard enabling each student the ability to see their progress as they complete activities. CooperVision will work with each school and college of optometry to confirm the CooperVision Contact Lens Leadership Award recipient.
Who Is Eligible?
Every U.S optometry student who is in their 3rd or 4th year is eligible to participate. The program begins at the start of 3rd year until April 1st of 4th year.
