Growing Your Practice Online

Several years ago, Dr. Alan Glazier of Shady Grove Eye and Vision Care (Rockville, MD) made a realization that dramatically changed his business.  “I recognized that the traditional marketing I was doing   was not performing well.  It was shocking how much I was  spending and not getting a return on my investment,” he says.

It was at this pivotal point that he decided to “put his practice online.”  Glazier did his own research on Search Engine Optimization and digital marketing, as well as taking advice of experts to create “a virtual extension of his real practice.”  Then Glazier learned about CooperVision’s Premier service, that puts the power of technology and digital marketing to work for eye care practices. Now Glazier has a dedicated Premier consultant that helps him develop, manage and execute an integrated marketing plan for his practice across all digital platforms.

“I realized that by using Premier, I can take the work off my plate,” said Glazier.  “I have a Premier consultant, Gabe, who keeps everything rolling for me including my Twitter and Facebook postings and reputation management.  He keeps the content fresh, using a robust suite of customer communications.  It’s great stuff!”

Glazier says that he has seen his social reviews increase on Google and Yelp, his Facebook has gained approximately 300 “likes” and that social media has helped him grow his business by 30%.  “Being active online has really helped us grow, especially due to the online reviews,” he said.  He adds that when he asks new patients how they found his practice, 9 out of 10 people found him online.

Dr. Mark Perry from the Vision Health Institute in Orlando, FL has also witnessed the power of digital marketing. Last year, Perry changed his practice name, relocated into a new building and developed a new website.  He says that the combination of these three events resulted in a decline on the practice’s top ranking on Google, Yahoo and Yelp.  “Our Premier consultant Kristen was able to help us navigate the many different search engines, update and coordinate our listings, and ultimately improve our visibility on these websites.  Kristen also oversees the development and distribution of our quarterly newsletters and helps to maintain our Facebook and Twitter page updates,” he said. “Premier has had a tremendous effect on our practice.”
