Michele Andrews, OD, Senior Director, North America Professional and Academic Affairs at CooperVision, was honored with the Rodger Kame Award at a special event hosted by the AOA’s Cornea and Contact Lens Section on June 20th at Optometry’s Meeting in Denver.
The Rodger Kame Award is given in recognition of individuals who have been true innovators and leaders in the field of contact lenses and anterior segment disease. The recipients of this award have also unselfishly given service to the section during the past year(s) above what is normally expected and have made a positive impact on fellow practitioners in the eye care field. While presenting the award, Dr. Shalu Pal acknowledged the ongoing service of Dr. Andrews and the other recipients in their active advocacy on behalf of the profession through the Healthcare Alliance for Patient Safety (APS).
As CooperVision’s representative to the APS, Dr. Andrews has worked tirelessly to advocate for better prescription verification processes, bringing an end to excessive quantity contact lens sales and the need to preserve the integrity of the doctor-patient relationship in contact lens care.
CooperVision congratulates Dr. Andrews and all of the CLCS award recipients for their dedication to the field of safe and effective contact lens .
