Program Description
The CooperVision® Student Leadership Society offers educational experiences to one or two optometry students at every school and college of optometry across North America who demonstrate curiosity and commitment to contact lenses and myopia control. Participants gain early exposure to the contact lens industry while developing insights into real world patient care and early career practice. The students(s) will also connect with CooperVision® leadership, collaborate with their peers nationwide, and learn from recognized O.D. leaders in contact lens practice and myopia management.
Benefits of the Program
- $1000 stipend to enhance the student's optometric education and help offset travel expenses to the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) Annual Meeting.
- Invitation to attend a fully covered educational meeting with networking opportunities at CooperVision’s facility (Victor, NY).
- Recognition and promotion of program participation through industry communications.
- Opportunity to contribute to ECP Viewpoints articles, podcasts, and other educational content.
- Direct exposure to optometrists affiliated with CooperVision, spanning roles such as research, regulatory, and medical affairs.
How the Program Works
CooperVision invites each school and college of optometry in North America to select a student from the third-year class to serve a one-year term in the Student Leadership Society.
In addition to the benefits outlined above, students may provide on-site support at their institution. This can include educational sessions, workshops, maintaining diagnostic lens sets, sharing fitting resources, and disseminating timely announcements.
Program dates
The student will serve a one-year term beginning in late summer, shortly after the start of the academic school year. All Student Leadership Society selections must be submitted by the middle of August of each year.
Enrollment process
The Contact Lens Director submits their selection for the Student Leadership Society to professionalaffairs@coopervision.com. A member of the Professional Affairs team will contact the student to confirm and finalize participation.
