By Dr. Jason Price
As a long-time toric wearer, I have come to appreciate a few key deliverables from my toric contact lenses. Of primary concern to me is stable vision. A toric lens, regardless of the prescription, needs to be rotationally stable, otherwise the patient experience is compromised. Best vision is dependent on how reliably stable the lens can remain. The toric design of the lens needs to overcome the biomechanics of how the eye influences the rotation of the lens.
Next, the lens needs to be comfortable and resist dehydration. I have always found this to be best achieved by the actual material of the lens instead of any coatings or surface treatments applied to the lens. It seems, if a lens is constructed of a material that inherently retains moisture, then it tends to perform at a higher level.
MyDay® toric and Biofinity® toric: Shared Technologies Deliver Stability and Comfort
For my patients with astigmatism, CooperVision provides both these key deliverables in MyDay® toric and Biofinity® toric. Optimized Toric Lens Geometry™ gives patients visual clarity and stability, while Aquaform® Technology is naturally wettable, so lenses stay moist and comfortable without the need for surface coatings or added wetting agents in the lens material.1
CooperVision’s toric portfolio is comprehensive.*2 Biofinity® toric has set a high standard in the monthly toric category.†3 There’s no other soft toric option that has the power range and patient reach.‡2 Its comfort and reliability make it a lens of choice for my toric patients.1
An Easy Switch to MyDay® toric
As a premium offering,1 MyDay® toric is a top-of-the-line lens that can satisfy even the most demanding prescriptions.4 It’s also a seamless transition from Biofinity® toric.5 Both lenses feature Optimized Toric Lens Geometry™ and Aquaform® Technology and share the same core prescription range.
