This month, we turn our spotlight from our product portfolio to one of our own. Dr. Michele Andrews, Senior Director of North America Professional and Academic Affairs, was recently named to Vision Monday’s Most Influential Women in Optical list for her ongoing contributions both to CooperVision and the broader profession of optometry.
According to Vision Monday, “VM’s Most Influential Women in Optical report is, first and foremost, our annual celebration of the immeasurable impact that women have on all levels of our industry. Just look around and you’ll find women of all ages and backgrounds who use their knowledge and skills to build and lead optical businesses and eyecare practices while enriching the lives of their customers, patients, students and colleagues.” The annual report was released in July.
Featured in the Executive Suite category, Dr. Andrews was hailed for her advocacy for both the profession and the patients it serves. When asked to share career advice to other women in the profession, she advised, “Explore and engage in topics and projects that interest you, even if you don’t have all the answers or aren’t sure how those projects may fit into your broader career plan. We perform best when we pursue our passions. Invest your time in learning how to ask great questions, and the answers will come.”
Also of note, two of 2018’s Best Practices honorees were also named to the list for their influence on the profession. Dr. Carrie Alfieri of Pinnacle Eye Associates and Dr. Roxanna Potter of Personal Eyecare were both named to list in the Rising Stars category.
Congratulations to all of the women who work so tirelessly for our profession and especially to those who were recognized among Vision Monday’s Most Influential Women in Optical.
