More Than 300 Employees Move to High Point Development in Victor; Region is Home to 80 Percent of Company’s U.S. Operations Plus Global Manufacturing & Logistics
VICTOR, N.Y., August 27, 2015 — CooperVision, Inc., one of the world’s largest manufacturers of soft contact lenses, today celebrated the grand opening of its new corporate offices in Victor’s High Point development. The newly constructed facility will allow additional room for the company’s continued growth, and enable greater collaboration and more efficient workflows thanks to a flexible, open floorplan.
Approximately 325 employees have now moved into the building, relocating from the Woodcliff office park in Perinton.
Employees at this location work in marketing, sales, finance, information technology, customer service, and supply chain management. CooperVision’s President of North America, Jerry Warner, is also based in the new High Point office. The company also maintains two other Rochester-area facilities: its made-to-order contact lens manufacturing site in Scottsville, and its global logistics and distribution center in West Henrietta. In total, CooperVision employs more than 1,250 people in the region.
“CooperVision’s headquarters are in Northern California, yet 80 percent of our U.S. operations are in Rochester,” said Warner. “Our significant presence in this region, and the people who work for us here, are integral to the continued growth and success of this company. We want to stay here and grow here. Finding new office space in the area was important to us—solidifying our ongoing commitment to the Rochester area.”
CooperVision’s portion of the Class A building is spread out over the first two floors and comprises more than 76,000 square feet of space, with the ability to add more square footage if needed. CooperVision was a partner in the planning and design of the new building, which allowed for some customization to meet the company’s needs.
“We were fortunate to have been given the opportunity to work with Rainaldi Brothers before ground was even broken on this construction,” said Warner. “It was exciting to begin with a blank slate, to pick and choose what elements we wanted and where. The result was a more open floorplan with less segmented offices—a space that can expand and evolve with CooperVision as we grow.”
Known worldwide and locally for its extensive employee wellness program, CooperVision planned for that as well in its new space. Employees now enjoy an on-premises CooperVision fitness facility twice the size of the gym at the former office, as well as hiking/walking trails on the High Point property.
Warner and other CooperVision employees were joined at a ribbon-cutting ceremony today by the Rainaldi Brothers, as well as Ontario County Administrator John Garvey and Victor Town Supervisor Jack Marren.
“We are delighted that CooperVision has chosen Ontario County to locate its headquarters,” said Garvey. “It is an excellent company and we look forward to a long and prosperous association.”
