What is MyDay Energys®?

MyDay Energys® is a daily disposable contact lens designed to help you get more out of every day. Made with a Silicone Hydrogel (SiHy) material and an innovative aspheric design, the lens offers a unique combination of features to help with eye tiredness and dryness associated with digital device use7– a growing concern as more time spent viewing screens contributes to eye discomfort and vision problems.

What is the difference between MyDay® and MyDay Energys® daily disposable lenses?

MyDay® daily disposable lenses are designed to provide comfort and clarity for everyday wear.8 MyDay Energys® incorporates the same design innovations as MyDay®, but also features DigitalBoost™ Technology, which helps with eye tiredness associated with digital device use.7  

Is MyDay Energys® a daily lens? / How long can I wear MyDay Energys®?

MyDay Energys® is a daily disposable lens, meaning it’s designed to be worn for a single day and then discarded. Wearing MyDay Energys® for more than one day could affect your eye health and comfort, so always wear a fresh pair each day.

How does MyDay Energys® work?

MyDay Energys® uses Aquaform® Technology to lock in moisture and help your eyes feel less dry, particularly at times when you blink less often like when viewing device screens.7 It also uses DigitalBoost™ Technology, a single vision aspheric lens design that delivers a +0.3D boost to help with eye tiredness associated with digital device use.7 The technology helps ease stress from overworked ciliary muscles, and may also help your eyes better adapt when shifting focus between digital devices and the real world.‡9

Does MyDay Energys® help with blue light?

The MyDay Energys® lens does not specifically block blue light. However, 8-out-of-10 contact lens wearers who tried MyDay Energys® with DigitalBoost™ Technology reported that the lens made their eyes feel relaxed and less tired, and their vision stays clear and focused throughout the day even with high digital device use.12,13

Is MyDay Energys® a better option than blue light glasses, a screen filter or standard lenses?

While the use of spectral filters such as blue light filters is growing in popularity,10 a recent review suggests that more research is needed to establish how well these filters actually work. In a survey of MyDay® lens wearers, the switch to MyDay Energys® lenses was shown to make a difference in how relaxed their eyes felt and how clear and focused their vision remained even with high digital device use.12

What are common impacts/symptoms of digital device use?

If you regularly spend hours each day on digital devices, it’s not uncommon to experience a combination of symptoms that might include eye dryness and discomfort, eye strain, eye redness and irritation, blurry vision and possibly even headaches. The technology in MyDay Energys® is specially developed to keep up with today’s digital lifestyles by helping eye dryness associated with digital device use.7

What is digital eye strain?

Digital eye strain is a condition caused by prolonged use of digital screens such as smartphones, tablets and personal computers. During times of screen viewing, it’s natural for us to blink less often, which can cause eye dryness and irritation, especially for contact lens wearers.11

What are ways of helping with symptoms of digital device use?

If possible, it always helps to take breaks from your screen viewing, especially when you feel the symptoms coming on. While not completely scientific, some eye care professionals recommend what’s known as the 20-20-20 Rule – every 20 minutes re-focus your eyes on an object 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

Other strategies for alleviating symptoms include proper posture and lighting, vision friendly screen settings, and making a conscious effort to blink regularly during screen viewing. Artificial tears are another way to help moisturize your eyes. If you wear contact lenses and experience eye dryness during digital device use, ask your Eye Care Professional about MyDay Energys® lenses. Where can I buy MyDay Energys®? 

MyDay Energys® lenses can be purchased directly from most Eye Care Professionals and through a variety of channels including optical stores and online retailers. Ask your Eye Care Professional about available free trial offers and rebates. You must have a valid prescription before purchasing.

Can you sleep in MyDay Energys®?

MyDay Energys® lenses are designed for daily wear only. You should remove them each night before sleeping and insert new lenses each day to ensure eye health and comfort.

*WARNING: UV-absorbing contact lenses are NOT substitutes for protective UV-absorbing eyewear such as UV-absorbing goggles or sunglasses because they do not completely cover the eye and surrounding area. Persons should continue to use their protective UV-absorbing eyewear as directed.

NOTE: Long-term exposure to UV radiation is one of the risk factors associated with cataracts. Exposure is based on a number of factors such as environmental conditions (altitude, geography, cloud cover) and personal factors (extent and nature of the outdoor activities). UV-absorbing contact lenses help provide protection against harmful UV radiation. However, clinical studies have not been done to demonstrate that wearing UV-absorbing contact lenses reduces the risk of developing cataracts or other eye disorders. Consult your Eye Care Practitioner for more information.
