World Site Day

CooperVision is dedicated to improving the way people see every day.  Whether it be innovation in our product lines or advocacy on behalf of practitioners for patient health and safety, we approach each day with a mission to improve people’s vision, and to support the ECPs who use our products to do so.

We also support organizations who share our mission to improve the lives and vision of patients everywhere. CooperVision is an ongoing Global Gold Sponsor of Optometry Giving Sight (OGS), an organization that helps to bring eye care to over 7 million underserved people.

According to OGS, “Optometry Giving Sight is the only global fundraising initiative that specifically targets the prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error – simply the need for an eye exam and a pair of glasses. More than 600 million people around the world are blind or vision impaired because they do not have access to the eye examination and glasses they need. Optometry Giving Sight funds the solution by supporting programs that train local eye care professionals, and establish vision  centers for sustainability to deliver eye care and low cost glasses.”

World Sight Day Challenge

To date, CooperVision has donated over $2.2 million to OGS and helped to establish 133 vision centers worldwide.  We will continue to work to provide the most innovative vision solutions and to support organizations who work to serve the visual needs of patients around the globe.  On Thursday, October 12th, OGS celebrated World Sight Day.  Surrounding that awareness event, OGS encourages involvement in the World Sight Day Challenge: a month long fundraising campaign that runs from October 1st through 31st.

Optometry Giving Sight is urging all members of the optical community and all those who value good vision to take part in the World Sight Day Challenge.  According to OGS, participating is easy – simply make a monthly or annual donation in October. Other ways they suggest that optometry practices can get involved include:

  • Pledge to donate a day of eye exam fees in October
  • Pledge to donate an amount from every frame sold or eye exam given in October
  • Invite patients to donate and/or hold fun fundraising events in the office
