Global Distribution Center Now Stocks Most Commonly Prescribed Parameters

SAN RAMON, Calif., January 2, 2020—To make contact lenses available more quickly to a broader range of wearers, CooperVision, Inc. is now stocking select parameters of its Biofinity® XR toric contact lenses at its global distribution center in West Henrietta, N.Y.

Although Biofinity® XR toric remains a made-to-order product for many prescriptions, especially for patients with higher refractive errors, the following parameter range is now stocked and available to ship next day to customers:

  • Plano to -6.00D (0.50 steps)
  • Axis of 10° to 180° (10° steps)
  • -2.75 cylinder

CooperVision is also stocking trial lenses in the same parameters. Orders placed directly through CooperVision and select authorized distributors will ship the following business day.

“Advances in CooperVision contact lens technology have opened the door for more wearers than ever before,” said Michele Andrews, OD, Senior Director of Professional and Academic Affairs, North America, CooperVision. “Our portfolio of contact lenses remains unmatched in the industry1, and Biofinity® toric is now the most prescribed toric lens on the market2. Through our partnership with eye care professionals, we have learned there is increasing demand for these more common extended range prescriptions, and we’re happy to provide these patients their lenses on the same timeline as our standardly manufactured products.”

Available in 16,000 prescriptions, Biofinity® XR toric contact lenses enable eye care professionals to fit virtually all of their astigmatic patients. The unrivaled range of parameters also drives patient satisfaction, as the lenses provide patients with high amounts of astigmatism a combination of high oxygen permeability and all-day comfort.

Biofinity® XR toric is a fully cast molded made to order lens that incorporates the same uniform horizontal ISO thickness and optimized ballast band design as Biofinity® toric, making it an easy-to-fit, stable toric lens with excellent visual acuity3. Its optimized, continuous surface ensures that the eyelid interacts with a smooth lens surface on every blink, resulting in a more comfortable wearing experience4.

Biofinity® XR toric lenses are available in sphere powers from +10.00D to -10.00D (0.50D steps after +/-6.00D), with cylinder powers from -2.75 to -5.75 (0.50 steps) and an axis of 5 degrees to 180 degrees in 5-degree steps.
