SAN RAMON, Calif., November 25, 2019—In alignment with its commitment to help improve the way people see each day, CooperVision, Inc. offers a contact lens rebate donation program that enables consumers to designate all or part of their rebates to be given to Optometry Giving Sight (OGS). Seven years after the launch of that program—which continues today—CooperVision has been recognized by 360insights, the company’s rebate and incentive management partner, with a Global Impact Award.

The award was presented to CooperVision at 360insights’ annual conference in Toronto in acknowledgement of the impact of the consumer rebate donation program, which has raised to date in 2019 the equivalent of more than 34,000 eye exams and pair of glasses for adults and children in underserved communities around the world. The generosity of CooperVision’s contact lens wearers continues to grow, as donations have increased more than 30% compared to 2018. Over the past eight years, the program has resulted in more than $800,000 donated to Optometry Giving Sight.

“As a longstanding partner of Optometry Giving Sight, CooperVision has been thrilled with the response from our wearers over the years,” said Melissa Kiewe, Senior Director, Customer Marketing, CooperVision. “It is humbling to see people outside of our organization pledge their rebate dollars to a cause that aligns so closely with our values. We can’t thank our wearers enough for their generosity and the impact that they have made in the lives of so many around the world.”

Last year, CooperVision surpassed the $1 million milestone in cumulative funds raised by its employees in support of Optometry Giving Sight’s annual World Sight Day Challenge. In addition, CooperVision’s parent company, CooperCompanies, recently announced that Optometry Giving Sight was selected as one of two global nonprofit beneficiaries of its new employee gift matching initiative, Cooper Giving.

Optometry Giving Sight is a global fundraising initiative that specifically targets the prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error – simply the need for an eye exam and a pair of glasses. 1.22 billion1 people are unnecessarily blind or vision impaired simply because they don’t have access to an eye examination and appropriate glasses; including tens of millions of children with uncorrected myopia.
