Recommendations Enable Faster & More Confident CooperVision® clariti® 1 Day Multifocal Fits by ECPs

PLEASANTON, Calif., February 21, 2019—A new clinical study has determined that clariti® 1 day multifocal contact lens power recommendations generated by CooperVision’s OptiExpert app closely matched eye care professional (ECP) recommendations following the fitting guide, both at initial fit and follow-up visit. These findings indicate that 100% of wearers can now be successfully fitted with clariti® 1 day multifocal using two pairs of trial lenses or less, thanks to the innovative app’s recommendations.

Conducted by the independent Centre for Ocular Research & Education (CORE), the study confirmed the ability of OptiExpert to deliver fast, accurate results with presbyopic patients, ultimately reducing chair time. Results were first published at the recent American Academy of Optometry Annual Meeting and are now being shared more widely by CooperVision in conjunction with OptiExpert’s expanded global availability.

The efficient and easy-to-use app, available for iPhone, iPad and Android mobile and tablet devices, includes multiple additional features depending on the country in which it is used. These include a digital version of the Efron Grading Scales, straightforward multifocal and toric calculators, and oxygen profiles to display the oxygen transmissibility of a selected range of lenses. It also offers the ability to securely store images of a patient’s eye condition, as well as recommendations from CooperVision brands including Biofinity®, clariti®, Avaira®, Biomedics®, and Proclear®.

Available in 15 languages and 79 countries worldwide, OptiExpert is actively used by more than 25,000 eye care professionals every month. Google Play reviewers have awarded it 4.5 of 5 stars.

“We’re delighted that the study findings reinforce the accuracy of our innovative OptiExpert™ app. It adds another dimension to how we partner with ECPs to save valuable chair time and create a better wearer experience,” said Gary Orsborn, OD, MS, FAAO, FBCLA, Vice President, Global Professional & Clinical Affairs, CooperVision.

ECPs can download OptiExpert™ from the Apple App Store, Google Play and Baidu
