PLEASANTON, Calif., June 2, 2014Following CooperVision’s sponsorship of three Team Great Britain athletes in the U.K., including a half pipe skier, ice hockey player, and mogul skier,

CooperVision, Inc. is sponsoring Steven Rosinski, who is not only a nationally ranked professional triathlete, but a practicing Doctor of Optometry.

As Steve kicks off his second full triathlon season as a professional, he is enjoying the benefits of wearing CooperVision’s Proclear® 1 day lenses which give him the versatility he needs to perform athletically.

“As an athlete and an allergy sufferer, I like the feeling of a fresh pair of lenses every single day,” said Steve. “When I’m training and racing, I’m in the elements—sweat, dirt and wind. My lenses need to withstand this level of activity, and my Proclear lenses do just that. They are comfortable and help reduce dryness. During a triathlon, I don’t want to think about anything besides what I am doing athletically. With Proclear lenses, I have one less thing to worry about.”

Growing up, Steve was a member of his high school’s baseball, cross country and track teams. He attended Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, where he ran Division I cross country and track and field. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in behavioral neuroscience, Steve went on to pursue his Doctorate in Optometry at The Ohio State University.

Steve’s triathlon career began while at Ohio State, where he finished eighth in the 2010 Collegiate Triathlon National Championships. Upon graduating in 2011 with his doctorate, Steve made the decision to dedicate himself to his training and racing and in doing so, earned his Elite Triathlete license within a year. In 2013, Steve completed his first full season as a professional. This year, he has high hopes for qualifying for the Ironman 70.3 world championships.

About seven years ago, Steve made the switch to Proclear 1 day from monthly and two-week lenses. He had been experiencing dryness issues with his lenses due to allergies and his training—especially when descending down hills on his bicycle. CooperVision’s Proclear lenses are made with PC Technology, containing phosphorylcholine (PC) molecules, which allows the lens material to lower the risk of dehydration, sustain oxygen flow, and reduce deposits, keeping the lens fresh and comfortable all day long, even after 12 hours of wear. When Steve travels to races, he also appreciates the convenience of a 1-day lens. He does not have to worry about packing contact lens cases or solutions.

As both a professional athlete and Doctor of Optometry, Steve is excited to work with CooperVision to educate patients on the numerous benefits of 1-day lenses.

“Professional athletes continue to lean on CooperVision to provide them with the clear, comfortable vision necessary to excel in their sports,” said Catherine Muriel, Vice President of Marketing at CooperVision. “We are in awe of what athletes like Steve can accomplish and are proud to play a role in helping him achieve his goals.”
