This year’s conference takes place from May 29-31, 2026, in Tokyo, Japan, in partnership with the Japan Contact Lens Society (JCLS).

Behaviour Change Insights: Leveraging the Transtheoretical Model to Guide Education in Myopia Management (Huang J, T Song)1 explores how parent information needs vary during their children’s myopia management journey, helping ECPs better address distinct motivations and obstacles throughout the process. Researchers mapped more than 500 parent-related statements to five stages of care: pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance. Subsequently, they showed how the transtheoretical model can guide stage‑matched, evidence‑based communication to improve parental understanding, support informed decision making, and increase myopia management adoption and adherence.
Another research highlight is Effect of Toric Power Alterations on Soft Toric Lens Fit and Rotation (Dutta D, et al),2 which acknowledges potential obstacles of practices having exact toric contact lens parameters in their fit set with increased ranges. The prospective, randomized, cross-over, open-label, controlled study (n=19) determined there was no significant difference in fitting patterns, particularly in the axis orientation, for toric daily disposable contact lenses of the same material and specifications when varying the toric power by ±1.00DC. This work, expanding on a related investigation presented at the 2026 Netherlands Contact Lens Congress (NCC), may help ECPs save chair time by reducing additional fittings prior to dispensing/ordering the exact prescription with astigmatic patients.3 The study was conducted with the Optometry and Vision Science Research Group at Aston University.
In keeping with ongoing initiatives to help ECPs provide optimal care for presbyopes, CooperVision scientists will share findings from various multifocal contact lens studies, including pupil size considerations and the earlier implementation of presbyopia management in Japan.4 The company will also present Japan-specific physiological, and wearer experience clinical study data related to its recent introduction of MiSight® 1 day* myopia control contact lens in the country.

*Indications for use: MiSight® 1 day (omafilcon A) Soft (Hydrophilic) Contact Lenses for Daily Wear are indicated for the correction of myopic ametropia and for slowing the progression of myopia in children with non-diseased eyes, who at the initiation of treatment are 8-12 years of age and have a refraction of -0.75 D to -4.00 D (spherical equivalent) with ≤ 0.75 diopters of astigmatism.
