PLEASANTON, Calif., December 23, 2015 — A joint effort of CooperVision, Inc. employees and the company has resulted in a $125,000 donation to Optometry Giving Sight in support of the 2015 World Sight Day Challenge. This marks the fourth consecutive year that employees organized creative fundraisers, with matching funds pledged by The Cooper Companies.

More than twenty CooperVision sites worldwide generated funds through activities including a 5K walk/run, family carnival, “Celebrate Vision” month, t-shirt sales, a barbeque and more. CooperVision is an Optometry Giving Sight Global Gold Sponsor.

“This year’s World Sight Day Challenge donation equates to providing 25,000 eye exams to those in need,” said Dan McBride, President, CooperVision. “I am proud of the efforts and commitment shown by our employees who actively participated for the cause. Our purpose is to help improve the way people see each day, and our employees most definitely take that to heart.”

“Once again, the people of CooperVision and The Cooper Companies have shown how deeply committed they are to helping overcome needless blindness and vision impairment,” said Clive Miller, CEO of Optometry Giving Sight. “This year’s incredible donation will change lives in underserved communities, affecting individuals, families and entire communities for decades to come.”

In addition to its employee-led donations to the World Sight Day Challenge, CooperVision generates additional funds for the organization through industry initiatives. These include offering contact lens patients the opportunity to donate eligible rebates to the cause, which itself has produced close to $300,000 in funding to date.
