Free Practice Support Tool is More Powerful Than Ever Thanks to Next-Generation Functionality, Boosting Practitioner Confidence and First-Fit Success

SAN RAMON, Calif., August 17, 2020—To enhance user experience and further support toric and multifocal contact lens fitting, CooperVision has upgraded its OptiExpert app—a free, multifunctional tool used by tens of thousands of eye care professionals around the world. The next-generation OptiExpert features a more efficient prescription calculator and more robust product recommendations, all of which are delivered through a more intuitive design with a new look and feel.

Designed and developed by CooperVision, OptiExpert puts a range of digital tools at the fingertips of today’s practitioners, aiding clinical decision making, reducing chair time, and increasing patient success with contact lenses. Clinical study results indicated that when eye care professionals utilize OptiExpert’s recommendations, 100% of contact lens wearers can be successfully fitted with clariti® 1 day multifocal using two or fewer pairs of trial lenses.1

OptiExpert is now available in more than 80 countries and 15 languages worldwide, with more than 30,000 monthly unique users.

The next-generation OptiExpert includes the following upgrades:

  • Streamlined Contact Lens Prescription Calculator: Sphere, toric, and multifocal prescription calculators have been combined to provide practitioners with a more streamlined process for converting any spectacle prescription into a contact lens prescription. OptiExpert includes diagnostic lens recommendations from all CooperVision product families, including clariti® 1 day, MyDay®, Biofinity®, Avaira Vitality™ and Proclear®.
  • Expanded Contact Lens Options: Additional contact lens options, such as CooperVision’s new Biofinity® toric multifocal lenses and clariti 1 day toric expanded parameters, have been added to the app’s database, enabling eye care professionals to utilize OptiExpert to more easily select the correct lenses for each patient.
  • Enhanced Platform and Design: A new, intuitive interface provides a simpler look and feel, making the tool even easier to navigate. Upgrades to the app’s platform also allow for easier updates and enhancements in the future.

“As a clinical support tool, OptiExpert™ helps eye care professionals reduce chair time while delivering the best possible patient experience through more accurate contact lens  selection,” said Michele Andrews, OD, Senior Director of Professional and Academic Affairs, North America, CooperVision. “Through our partnership with practitioners, we have gathered  valuable feedback to inform improvements in the app, which has resulted in a smarter, simpler, more powerful tool that is even more useful to eye care practices.”

Improved functionality to the app will be available this September.

The next generation OptiExpert is available to download for iOS and Android devices on the Apple App Store and Google Play. The desktop version can be used online at https://coopervision.com/practitioner/tools-and-calculators/optiexpert/optiexpert-web.
