Web-Based Course & On-Demand Webinar Identify Opportunities and Demonstrate Methods for Patient Education and Discussion

PLEASANTON, Calif., September 27, 2018 — To help eye care professionals grow their silicone hydrogel 1-day contact lens business, CooperVision, Inc. is unveiling a new, comprehensive online training program that can be completed at any place and time. The web-based training and on-demand webinar focus on teaching practitioners and staff how to successfully upgrade monthly and two-week wearers to benefit patients’ health and wearing experience, and increase practice profitability.

“Our recent research revealed significant opportunity for the continued adoption of silicone hydrogel 1-day contact lenses in the United States,” said Michele Andrews, OD, Senior Director of Professional and Academic Affairs, North America, CooperVision. “94% of responding U.S. eye care professionals agreed that silicone hydrogel 1-day lenses are the best choice to safeguard patient eye health related to contact lens wear1, yet they continue to hesitate to recommend them to patients—often due to misconceptions about cost, allergy, and comfort. These training resources give eye care professionals and staff the knowledge and valuable tools to help overcome these barriers to transitioning more patients to this beneficial combination of material and modality.”

The web-based training module, “Upgrade Your Monthly/2-Week Contact Lens Patients to SiHy 1-Day Lenses,” walks practitioners and/or staff members through the five stages of a patient’s interaction with an eye care practice, identifying opportunities to educate them about the benefits of silicone hydrogel 1-day contact lenses. The training includes video of practice representatives—from front desk staff to technicians to doctors—demonstrating how to facilitate the discussion. To complete the web-based training, U.S. eye care professionals can visit learning.coopervision.com to register for access. Alternatively, if a practitioner or team prefers a personally-guided session, they can contact their CooperVision representative for scheduling.

A second training option for practices is an on-demand webinar led by two of CooperVision’s Best Practices honorees, titled “Are You Missing Out on a Shift in the Market? How to Upgrade Monthly/2-Week Wearers to SiHy 1-Day.” Dr. Casey Hogan of Advanced Eye Care Professionals in Oak Lawn, Ill. and Dr. Stephanie Woo of Havasu Eye Center in Lake Havasu, Ariz. are both avid fitters of silicone hydrogel 1-day contact lenses in their practices. In the webinar, they share an overview of the benefits of silicone hydrogel for 1-day wearers, point out opportunities for patient education, and provide tips for how to train a practice’s staff for the upgrade. U.S. eye care professionals can register to watch or listen to the on-demand webinar at www.bit.ly/2NdDktb.
