August 24, 2015

PLEASANTON, Calif., August 24, 2015To help educate contact lens wearers about how to keep their eyes as healthy as possible, CooperVision, Inc. will launch a week-long consumer campaign in conjunction with the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) second annual Contact Lens Health Week. The goal of the CDC’s efforts is to raise awareness about the importance of healthy contact lens habits.

In partnership with eye care practitioners across the U.S. as they work to educate their patients, CooperVision will leverage its marketing and communications resources this week to support this initiative. CooperVision has planned the distribution of healthy contact lens wear and care tips to broadcast, print and online consumer media outlets nationwide, as well as the frequent sharing of CDC information and materials through CooperVision’s social media channels.

“At CooperVision, we understand the challenges eye care practitioners face with patient compliance with recommended contact lens use and care,” said Gary Orsborn, OD, Vice President of Global Professional and Clinical Affairs at CooperVision. “Despite instruction from practitioners, many patients still do not realize the responsibility that comes with contact lens wear. While those of us in the industry do everything we can to reinforce healthy habits every day, it is incredibly validating to see an organization like the CDC—with such significant visibility and authority—join this effort with the observance of Contact Lens Health Week each year.”
