Projects Significantly Increase Capacity to Meet Escalating Global Demand;
Includes Innovations to Elevate Customer Experience

ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 22, 2022—To meet growing demand from eye care professionals and wearers for its unmatched portfolio of contact lenses,1* CooperVision has begun construction on the expansion and renovation of its manufacturing, packaging, and distribution facilities in Scottsville and West Henrietta, New York.  Each year, these facilities produce, process, and ship nearly one billion contact lenses to customers all around the world.

At CooperVision’s global packaging and distribution center in West Henrietta, the 150,000 square foot expansion increases the facility’s footprint by more than 50 percent and adds innovative upgrades in the technologies used for packaging, storage, and order picking, as well as an updated warehouse management system. At the company’s manufacturing facility in Scottsville, a 5,500-square-foot expansion and investments in new technology will accommodate current and future growth in product manufacturing capacity, resulting in shorter order fulfillment times for products including made-to-order lenses such as Biofinity toric multifocal and Biofinity XR toric.

“As we develop new products and expand the available parameters of existing ones, our operations for manufacturing, packaging, labeling, warehousing, order fulfillment, and shipping must be able to keep up with demand,” said Jerry Warner, President, CooperVision. “Our West Henrietta site is one of the most technologically advanced distribution centers of its kind, and the Scottsville facility is a jewel in our global network of production sites. With the latest investments in these areas of our business, we are further enhancing our industry-leading customer service reputation, ensuring the timely delivery of CooperVision contact lenses for eye care professionals and their patients.”

CooperVision’s commitment to workforce health and safety and sustainability is evident at the sites. The Scottsville operation has achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification, and the company plans to seek the certification at West Henrietta as part of the expansion. Currently, all the company’s facilities in New York are powered by 100 percent renewable energy.

The West Henrietta project will be complete by summer 2023, while the Scottsville project will be operational by the end of next year.
