All-Digital Event Hosted by Prevent Blindness Slated for July 15;
Calls Attention to Rising Severity and Prevalence of Myopia
SAN RAMON, Calif., July 9, 2020—CooperVision is encouraging the optometry, ophthalmology, vision science and public health communities to participate in the 9th annual Focus on Eye Health National Summit, presented by Prevent Blindness on Wednesday, July 15.
The summit’s online format and no-cost registration will allow broad attendance, helping advance discussions surrounding some of the most important topics in ocular health, including the rising severity and prevalence of myopia. According to a study published in Clinical Ophthalmology in August 2018, 41.9% of U.S. children ages 5-19 are myopic.1
More information and registration details are available at https://eyesummit.vfairs.com/
Within the Summit’s virtual exhibit hall, CooperVision will present its Brilliant Futures™ Myopia Management Program featuring MiSight® 1 day contact lenses. Company representatives will be on hand to discuss this comprehensive approach, which includes the first and only FDA-approved* product clinically proven to slow the progression of myopia in children in the United States, who at the initiation of treatment are 8-12 years of age.2
“Our commitment to solving many of the world’s toughest vision challenges, including the rising tide of myopia, goes well beyond developing inventive products and programs for eye care professionals,” said Michele Andrews, Senior Director, Professional and Academic Affairs for CooperVision. “We believe that myopia management should become the standard of care. Only by partnering with forward-looking organizations such as Prevent Blindness and IAPB can we achieve this type of long-term change. We’re excited to take part in the Focus on Eye Health National Summit and hope to see the entire industry and our allies in myopia management participate in this year’s digital event.”
The conference keynote will be delivered by Peter Holland, chief executive of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), regarding the World Report on Vision published by the World Health Organization. CooperVision is a Global Patron of IAPB and a silver sponsor for the Summit.
