Initiative Discovers and Recognizes Optometry Offices That Advance the Profession through Innovation, Industry Leadership and Patient Experience

LAS VEGAS, September 14, 2016 — Today, at Vision Expo West in Las Vegas, CooperVision, Inc. announced its second annual nationwide search for honorees for its Best Practices initiative (EyeCareBestPractices.com). Best Practices seeks to recognize U.S. eye care professionals who have found unique ways to make their businesses thrive and can share a refreshing perspective with the entire profession.

“Best Practices is about bringing to light the innovative things that eye care practitioners do every day to grow their practices and provide the best possible care to their patients,” said Michele Andrews, OD, Director of Professional Affairs, North America, CooperVision. “Through our partnership this year with the first 10 Best Practices, we have seen firsthand how practices are adjusting their approaches to eye care in response to the evolution of both the industry and the business landscape as a whole. We can’t wait to see what our next class of Best Practices has in store, and work with them to highlight their creativity and share their reasons for success.”

All U.S. optometry practices currently fitting contact lenses are invited to participate. Best Practices candidates are encouraged to submit practice profiles and stories, sharing their insights and experiences in all of the following areas:

  • Innovation will be evaluated on contributions to the betterment of eye health and education, leveraging technology in interesting ways to grow the practice, and advancing the eye care profession among the public.
  • Industry Leadership will be rated on how a practice advances the profession and leads the industry regionally, nationally and even globally.
  • Patient Experience will be judged on how a practice delivers excellent eye care experiences and education to its patients, and unique aspects of patient care.

Candidates can choose to submit their stories via written responses or video at EyeCareBestPractices.com. Applications will be accepted through November 27, 2016. The 2016 Best Practices will be announced in early 2017.

The inaugural class of Best Practices honorees was announced in February 2016 and has been broadly recognized throughout the profession. These 10 Best Practices have since served on professional panels, showcased their expertise within the eye care trade media, represented the program at industry trade shows, and attended educational meetings at CooperVision’s headquarters in Pleasanton, Calif.

“As a solo doctor in a small town in Missouri, it has been humbling to be recognized by my peers for excellence in eye care,” said James W. Vann, OD of VisionArts Eyecare Center in Fulton, Mo. “To be named a Best Practice provides honorees with wonderful learning experiences and networking opportunities. Not only is it a chance to expand your knowledge of contact lens technology, but you can get a sense of how you measure up to other exceptional practices around the country and discover ways to improve your own practice in every area of the business.”
