Addition of +0.50DS to +6.00DS Enables Eye Care Professionals to Fit More Patients in CooperVision’s Premium Silicone Hydrogel 1-Day Toric Lens

PLEASANTON, Calif., March 15, 2018 — At Vision Expo East in New York, CooperVision, Inc. announced today the addition of plus powers to its MyDay® toric daily disposable contact lens family. The expanded parameters, which include +0.50DS to +6.00DS in 0.50D steps, will be available on April 2.

“The depth and breadth of CooperVision’s contact lens portfolio remains unmatched in the industry,” said Michele Andrews, Senior Director of Professional and Academic Affairs, North America, CooperVision. “We are committed to helping eye care professionals meet the needs of every patient by providing a lens for virtually any eye. MyDay® toric is a groundbreaking new lens, and the availability of plus powers enables practitioners to deliver those benefits to an even greater number of wearers.”

First introduced in January, CooperVision’s MyDay toric lenses combine the proven design features of Biofinity® toric with the premium silicone hydrogel 1-day material of MyDay®. This revered toric technology, called Optimized Toric Lens Geometry, provides uniform horizontal ISO thickness, an optimized ballast band design, a large toric optic zone, and a smooth, continuous surface to make it an easy-to-fit, stable toric lens.

In addition, the MyDay® family of lenses is made with Smart Silicone chemistry, an innovative technology that optimizes oxygen permeability with less silicon, leaving more room in the lens for hydrophilic (water loving) material. This results in improved surface wettability, higher water content, and a modulus of only 0.4 MPa, which makes MyDay® CooperVision’s softest ever 1-day silicone hydrogel contact lens. And while the lens provides optimal comfort, it remains strong enough to ensure exceptional handling. Built-in UV protection filters 85% of UVA and 96% of UVB rays*, helping support ocular health.

MyDay® toric is the newest addition to CooperVision’s portfolio, which includes the broadest silicone hydrogel 1-day product family on the market. From the clariti® 1 day family to the MyDay® family, you can fit virtually all patients into a 1-day contact lens that provides high oxygen, comfort, and convenience.
