New LensFerry® S Service Delivers Contact Lenses from All Major Brands, Backed by One of the Eye Care Industry’s Most Respected Corporations

LAS VEGAS, January 4, 2017 — A medical device used by more than 30 million people in the U.S. has lept with eyes wide open into the subscription movement. Contact lenses from all major brands are now available for direct-to-home shipment via LensFerry® S (LensFerry.com), a new service that brings the convenience of automatic monthly payments and quarterly or semi-annual contact lens deliveries to consumers across the country.

LensFerry® S encompasses monthly, two-week, and 1-day lenses from all popular manufacturers, including the most technologicially advanced and broadest range of contact lenses available. When consumers enroll in the service with their eye doctor, the annual cost of their lenses is divided into automatic monthly payments and they receive a three- or six-month supply, depending upon their prescription. Replacement lenses then follow at the same interval.

Unlike some other direct-to-consumer subscription models, LensFerry® S does not force patients to switch to different contact lenses by requiring them to request only one type of contact lens product. With LensFerry S, the eye care professional retains fitting and prescription control and flexibility for the benefit of the patients’ health and well-being. LensFerry® S is backed by EyeCare Prime®, a subsidiary of global contact lens leader CooperVision, Inc.

"The subscription industry has rapidly grown to generate $5 billion in revenue annually in the U.S. Consumers are utilizing subscriptions to buy everything from makeup to razors, diapers to laundry detergent, and dinners to movies," said Mark Lindsey, Global General Manager, EyeCare Prime®. "By partnering with eye care practices in bringing subscriptions to contact lenses, we’re able to combine convenience of delivery and payments while promoting consumer health and well-being. It strikes the right balance for everyone involved."

Eye care professionals across the U.S. who have been piloting the service agree, as they maintain fitting and prescription control while making life easier for their patients. Any eye care practice in the U.S. is eligible to use the service with its patients. For every completed patient annual subscription through LensFerry® S, EyeCare Prime® makes a donation to Optometry Giving Sight for an eye exam.

The EyeCare Prime® team – based near San Francisco – includes online commerce, retail and eye care veterans. This depth and breadth of expertise has bred start-up-like innovation and speed while providing the sound, experienced reasoning required for navigating the complex aspects of medical device regulations and just-in-time supply chain management.
