Activism
At CooperVision, we just don’t talk about the importance of eye health. We’re actively involved in helping organizations worldwide provide aid to others via access to eye doctors and eyeglasses.
To this end, we’re reaching out to organizations and charities, both globally and locally, and providing them with the financial assistance they need.
Getting involved on this level to help others improve their eyesight is an important goal for us. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made so far, but we’re continuing to do more for the future.
Optometry Giving Sight
Currently, more than 600 million people are blind or visually impaired due to no access to eye examinations and lack of vision correction, like a simple pair of eyeglasses.
Optometry Giving Sight wants to change this for the better, and so do we.
Optometry Giving Sight is a global organization that helps improve and, in some cases, return vision to people. Since 2007, they have allocated or disbursed more than $6.5 million (U.S.) to 57 projects in 32 countries, helping to provide basic eye care services to over 4 million people, training more than 2,614 mid-level eye care personnel, and supporting the establishment of more than 1,100 vision centers and optical laboratories.
Their aim is to help prevent blindness and impaired vision by providing something many of us take for granted: access to a professional eye examination and corrective lenses.
To help further this worthy cause, CooperVision employees around the world donated $47,137.86 as part of Optometry Giving Sight’s World Sight Day Challenge 2012. This amount was then matched by The Cooper Companies, our parent company, and increased to $100,000. In addition, CooperVision is also an ongoing Platinum Global Sponsor.
We’ve made it easy for you to help, too. We invite everyone who purchases our contacts to donate a portion, or all, of his or her CooperVision contact lens rebates to help Optometry Giving Sight continue their work.
Support for local charities
In addition to our global sponsorship through Optometry Giving Sight, we’re also reaching out to vision-related charities in neighborhoods like yours.
To date, we’ve given over $200,000 to charities that help people improve and maintain their eyesight health.
Those of us at CooperVision are thrilled to support important eye health causes such as these.
