Have You Made Your New Year's Resolution Yet?

Make it your official New Year’s resolution to improve your social media and web presence: try to post to your practice’s Facebook Fan Page at least twice a week in 2011. Doing so can help increase your organic search rate (Google includes sites such as Facebook and Twitter in their rankings calculations*) and help you build a loyal fan base. Dedicate at least one staff member in your office as an administrator to the fan page and official status-updater. Make sure you’re posting relevant and useful content – relevance is important to both Google and your fans (you don’t want to spam your fans with unwanted information). What type of information should you be posting? Here’s what we recommend:

  • Doctor and staff bios
  • Any community relationships/programs your practice supports
  • Feature a patient a week (with consent) who wins an inner-office contest or a local hero story
  • Referrals and reviews
  • Offers on fitting fees, frame promotions, contact lens rebates
  • Ask the fans what they want to hear about (specific health topics, address common vision questions, etc)
  • General eye health tips

Not all content needs to be original. To save yourself some time, link to other websites and online articles. Here are a few suggestions to help get you started:
