August 17th – 21st is the CDC’s seventh annual Contact Lens Health Week. CooperVision® is proud to bring you resources to help you communicate key messages about contact lens health and safety to your patients. This year’s campaign theme, “The Road to 2020 Vision Begins with Contact Lens Health,” emphasizes the importance of healthy contact lens hygiene practices in protecting against serious eye infections and other illnesses, an especially important message in the COVID-19 era.

A key message to patients for Contact Lens Health Week 2020 is that it’s important to wash hands before handling contact lenses. Handwashing is an essential first step in the fight against eye infections and COVID-19 transmission.  Now is the perfect time for ECPs to reinforce key contact lens health messages as patients are currently more focused on hygiene and more receptive to medical professionals’ guidance on how to keep eyes healthy.

The annual campaign aims to promote healthy contact lens wear and care practices that can help reduce the chance of eye infections and injuries related to contact lens use. For more information on Contact Lens Health Week, see the additional resources below and visit www.cdc.gov/contactlenses.

Additionally, CooperVision has assembled a number of COVID-19 resources for practitioners and a complete toolkit for the annual Contact Lens Health Week observance.
