LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional social network with over 200 million members to date. Professionals in the eye care industry are using LinkedIn as a way to stay connected on a professional level. Some optometry practices have created great profiles that can be used as a model for your own eyecare practice. If you haven’t done so already, create a LinkedIn Company Page and use this LinkedIn FAQ page to help get you started. Here are some more suggestions to help your eyecare practice grow a presence on LinkedIn.

    • Basic Set Up: It’s important to make sure all your business and contact information as well as website link are correct. Also, add a keyword heavy description and a practice logo or picture. Begin posting and sharing blogs, eye care industry articles, and professional posts that you would be including on your Facebook Page. EyeCare Associates, Inc. has a good example of what the homepage should look like.
    • Careers: LinkedIn allows an excellent way to find talented professionals to fill any of your staffing needs. Add the job description and additional information and wait for the resumes to come in. Another advantage is you’ll be able to look at candidate profiles before interviews.
    • Products and Services: This is a good way for you to show off what your practice does and people will be able to recommend your products in this section. Whether you perform pediatric exams, cataract surgery, or specialize in glaucoma, add all your services to your profile. Also, if you have products such as specialized brands of contacts or frames, be sure to include them. This is a great way to optimize your company page for search results. Wing Eyecare has done a great job including the products and services they offer.

By looking at other Company Pages, such as CooperVision’s LinkedIn page, you should be able to set up your own complete page and use LinkedIn to improve your online presence for your business.
